Average Age - Take a Guess

A question that I am asked often, but never really have an accurate answer for, is the average age of the residents on our farm.  Their ages cover a broad spectrum.  Everyone always assumes a retired horse means an elderly horse and some of the time this is a correct assumption.  However we have several retirees here under the age of ten.  The youngest age at the time of arrival was five years old, retired due to an injury.  We also have several residents in their late 20's and well into their 30's.

To satisfy my own curiosity I just calculated the average age a resident on our farm.  Anybody care to guess what number I came up with?

I'm curious! I read someplace that the average age of a racehorse was 7-8 years. That's really sad!

I was going to guess 12, but since that's already taken. I'll guess 13.

My first thought was 17. Since both 17 and 18 are taken, I'll go with 16 :)

Since the other ages I was going to guess are taken, I will say 14

I'll guess with a few of them:
1. Clayton-8 to 10
2. Stormy- 6 to 8
3. Elfin- 16
4. Grand- 13
5. O'Reilly- 12
6. Lucky-8 to 12
