It's a Bird, It's a Plane . . .

You never know what strange thing will be moving around our farm, at least this appears to be the opinion of the horses here. A little over a week ago we had Ewen running around in his cone of shame terrorizing the horses.  In the past there have been other events that led to much angst and statue-like staring. You might recall that Carter pushing his stroller around a couple of years ago was the cause of much consternation among the horses.

These are things that one might expect to cause concern to a horse. A couple of days ago I had the opportunity to take some more ears forward, full alert, "that thing might eat me" pictures. What was the cause this time?

It wasn't Ewen in the cone of shame.

It wasn't a baby stroller.

What was it?

It was a horse.

Yes, you read that correctly, it was a horse. It wasn't a mini, or even a Friesian or a Gypsy Vanner with lots of hair. Just a horse, a standard looking chestnut gelding.  Because the other horses have certainly never seen a chestnut horse before. Ever. They were sure of it. And we certainly never, ever have reasons to lead a horse or two past a pasture. That would never happen, not on a horse farm.

However, for reasons unknown to me, leading this chestnut horse past one of the pastures was the cause of much concern, staring and studying on the part of its residents. I have no idea why. I'm not even sure I want to know why.

Murphy, Blu, Lighty, Sam and Johnny on the run to check out this strange sighting.
